So you want to go to Japan, but can’t go because of various reasons excuses. Fear not! Here are a couple of reasons (in no particular order) of why you should invest your hard earned cash and take the time to make your next vacation trip to Japan, and maybe even go this summer to support Japan through spending more money to help them recover from the earthquake (which you should do regardless, even though I do hear Japan has all the money they need). But if you really can’t go due to reasons unknown, read on after the jump and enjoy the eye food. And learn some Japanese, while you’re at it!

Warming up with Usagi Drop

Walking into the new season, and a new year.

As I finish watching Usagi Drop, part of me feels unsatisfied. Certainly, the anime had a good run. They chose a fitting point to end, right before the time skip in the manga occurs, with Rin’s teeth finally starting to fall out. Reading the manga, the ending can be quite controversial, which is why I’m happy they chose this point to end it, instead of possibly rushing to a time skip and a rushed ending. Rin stays cute, Daikichi stays a fatherly figure, we’re all happy.

One may think that all perspectives have been explored in episode 9 of Mawaru Penguindrum, but I beg to differ, as there is always a single point to expand from. And finally, the psychology classes I have taken can prove their worth.

The story starts of with a da capo, returning to the beginning of the series, instead now we see Himari’s viewpoint. Nothing really interesting seen here (unless the boy with the hat becomes part of the story as well), and that she disappears due to chasing the penguins.

And then, we descend down to the depths of Himari’s mind.
