Its been a long standing tradition for JC Staff to fill up the first 90% of a series with nothing useful, only to move on to some important plot points with a small handful of episodes remaining. Case in point, Zero no Tsukaima, Shakugan no Shana, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I still love JC Staff, I’m just setting the expectations here. And frankly, as long as they provide Railgun-tan goodness in their DVD/BR releases, I’ll be happy.
While episode 3 fared much better than episode 2 (due to Kuroko’s lines being kept to a bare minimum) it felt like it was still a filler. At least it was a decent filler slice-of-life episode? (Apparently, shows that lack actual plot are now categorized as slice-of-life)
Ok so back on topic here. Eyebrows. Yeah?

Hey, is it just me? Or does this feel like… DIAGON ALLEY?
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW NICE BOAT BROW

That’s the spirit! I’m liking Ruiko’s mean streak!
Dear JC Staff, Kyo-Ani called… they want Mugi back.
Maybe there will finally be some sort of story?
Next Episode : MOAR FILLER SLICE OF LIFE!
Seriously, its only 3 episodes in, but I’m finding it really difficult to talk about a show that has no actual plot yet, and it doesn’t even have the WTF element Kiddy Girl-and has. For shame.
tl;dr Things of actual importance from episode 3:
- Uiharu’s powers seem to be related to computers of some sort (but we already knew that).
- Maybe the database is wrong? NO WAY

LOL~!! That Diagon Alley thingy you mentioned is moar like THE BIGGER DIAGON ALLEY!! XD 0__0 lol niice review for it ^^ I am writing a couple reviews for my blog
I am back in the blogging world~!! Check out my latest post Seinime! I only has certain anime reviews ._.
Rock Lee in MY Railgun?
Although the episodes so far definitely feel like fillers, I do see a link connecting them to the actual plot. But that’s probably because I’ve read the manga so I recognized where it is going. =P
Harharhar. Eyebrow joke as the central element of the story. Very funny indeed… not.
This is actually the stuff I really like. Slice-of-life as always been my favorite genre (if you can even call it that), Mikoto has always been my favorite character, and supercool superpowers have been something I’ve seen and liked all my life. Put those three together, and awesomeness springs forth.
There is a very fine line between filler and slice-of-life, and most people simply differentiate between the two by counting how many jokes vs. how much action there is (as in… Lucky Star isn’t filler because it’s all jokes anyway whereas To Aru Kagaku no Railgun is filler because shit happens). Though if you think about it, Gintama is in the same ballpark as Railgun, albeit with more jokes and less amazingly beautiful characters.
@fangzhao I’ve always categorized slice-of-life as things I could relate to ie stuff that could happen in a normal day.
Having invisible Mugi, loli super hacker, siscon, biri biri and wrathful waifu do not constitue as slice-of-life in my books. But, I can see what you are getting at. Perhaps s-o-l is not properly defined?
(Sorry, my Railgun posts tend to be more angsty/trolly than my normal posts … oh wait..)
@Reltair was it like this when you read the manga? (ie hidden plot points ever once in a while?) They really shouldn’t expect me to of read the manga to enjoy the show :<
Eh. I categorize it literally as a “slice of life.” So that means I don’t have to relate to it – as long as it’s a slice out of the life of a character/group of characters, then it counts. For example, fighting criminals in Academy City is what Kuroko and Mikoto do every day, so this literally is a normal, “slice of life” day for them.
s-o-l is pretty much subjective, though. I’ve heard everything from calling Code Geass slice of life to your definition to my own.
Blogging is trolling.
Another one of these filler episodes. I don’t even remember reading any of what happened in this episode in the manga. At least it kept me interested, plus there’s also the foreshadowing of what will happen…
Bah, Railgun would be twenty times as awesome if Rock Lee actually made an appearance.
As an aside, what the fuck is Uiharu’s power? Being good at computers?
[...] Ganbatte Forever says unforgivable things about Kuroko-chan and wants plot (I don’t!) but he made me LOL with the thing at the end of the post. [...]
LOL it was so funny when I saw the eyebrows pictures hahahaha
This seemed like a real filler to me… but I laughed xP And like I’ve already commented about this episode repeatedly – hasn’t eyebrows girl ever heard of waxing/shaving? lulz~
