When I watched the first episode of A Certain Magical Index (To Aru Majutsu no Index) Misaka was already on my “whao! that’s super cool” list. Naturally, a side story just about her would have me interested. While I do not make fanatical claims like Fangzhao over there, I must agree that the first episode was a fair introduction.
Fair, in that for those who saved themselves the agony of watching Index, well, there doesn’t need to be any prior knowledge of the series. But for those who HAVE suffered at the hands of Railgun’s non-sensical parent story, its first episode still provided lots of comedy, yuri undertones and action.
So let’s get right into the character intros!
Mikoto Misaka
Powers: Electricity, level 5
Comments: If it wasn’t for her, I probably would not of made it through Index. In the original story, she was cloned. I wonder if this side story takes place before, or after the events in Index?
Kuroko Shirai
Powers: Teleporter, level 4
Comments: Annoying loli who likes to flash her Judgement armband and has the hots for Mikoto. Would totally rock if she wasn’t so damn annoying.
Kazari Uiharu
Powers: ???, level 1
Comments: Apparently the flowers on her head have something to do with her powers? I dunno. It does remind me of the Laurel Crown [1] headgear in Ragnarok. God I loved that headgear.
Ruiko Saten
Powers: Abilityless, level 0
Comments: Likes to check out Kazari’s panties. I’m liking her already.
As you can see, I quite like the new characters in this side story! And omg, does Kuroko have to flash her Judgment badge EVERY SINGLE TIME?
Yo Kuroko, I’m really happy for you and I’mmma let you finish, but Haruhi had the best armband of all time. OF ALL TIME!
Oh comon! Don’t tell me you didn’t see that coming.
Kuroko irks me. Her yuri antics get pretty old pretty quickly, like in 2 seconds. However I watch this for Misaka and Misaka only.
And who wouldn’t. I can’t bear her voice either.
I on the other hand, love her voice~
Well, mostly because I love the ‘ojou-sama’ way of speaking!
But yeah, MIKOTO >>>> KUROKO
I say Kuroko is just the optional extra topping to the Misaka combo meal!
I like her voice as well. Definitely matches her character.

Yeah, yuri antics once in a while is funny. Once every two minutes is overboard. I’d rather she just sticks to beating up thugs.
I was one of the fortunate ones that didn’t finish Index. It was beyond me. I haven’t dropped it though, it’s in an almost permanent on-hold status.
It’s judgment-o time! Why can’t they get some real police officers in that city, huh? It’s pretty funny that magical yuri lolis are running that city. Money well spent, money well spent.
I’m still waiting for someone to make a over 9k video of this if they haven’t already.

LOL, oh that voice XD I’m going to clear the backlog of Index along side the weekly Kuroko mayhem.
Luckily she doesn’t get much screentime in Index. And she’s not as annoying.

LOL I’m pretty much with everyone here, and say that I’m not really into Kuroko’s voice XD. She is better off being some sort of tsukaima, or a soft toy that talks =s.
And as it turns out, Ruiko Saten is secret Level 5 esper that no one was aware of until now!
