Umineko 5 – I knew I needed the VN. Why?
Objection! Hold it! Take that!
Because Battler (and I) will not go into that gentle night. Rage, raeg rage against the dying of the light.
Thoughts?
Actually, I don’t have much. I don’t get it. So in this episode, the killer managed to kill off everyone except Battler, and apparently it’s still blamed on Beatrice, when she actually appears in person in front of Battler. It clearly looks like some supernatural forces were at work here, or I’d like to see how Battler finds an explanation even when something as major as this happens. Please enlighten me because it looks like I knew I needed the VN to search for some hints or explanation for all of this. Even after looking for some truth to all this, I still don’t understand what exactly happened. I guess I’m on Battler’s side (anti-fantasy) since I really don’t believe that just witches are the source. To confuse it even further, another witch is revealed. My mind just hypothetically axploded.

Yeah, it’s pretty much confusing if you haven’t played or heard spoilers/facts from the VN. xD
I know right? It amazes me that even though he’s seen her kill the others without touching them, he still wants to prove that those were all human tricks. HA! I’m excited to see how he does that

A couple of clarifications on what happened:
- Everyone on Rokkenjima died, including Battler. They don’t show how Battler, George, Jessica, and Maria died, but they’re definitely dead.
- The second half of the episode takes place in purgatory. That’s why when Beatrice appears right in front of Battler, he is still able to deny her existence as the culprit who committed all of the murders in the real world. Everything that takes place in purgatory during that tea party is basically designed to make Battler believe in witches.

The visual novel makes it a little less confusing at that point but you’ll still be confused. As with Higurashi, the mindfuck is part of the ride. Everything will make more sense in time.

Beatrice wa Iru!

I haven’t played through the VN, but basically I expected something like this based on my experience of Higurashi. Just keep watching. Everything will make more sense as you piece the puzzle together. I did expect this kind of bad ending where everyone’s killed off though. I did get some spoilerific info from a friend who played the VN, so I did have some kind of help in understanding what happened at the end of the first arc.
Anyway, keep watching. As with Higurashi, just keep watching, and things will make more sense as it goes.
And by the way, I would have liked Bernkastel to say “nipa~” at least once. Oh well…

Guess the whole Tea Party thing works much better in VN format…
Anyways, everything that happened after the eye-catch took place in the Purgatory/some other place. Even if Beatrice could show up in those places, it doesn’t necessarily mean she exists in the ‘real world’ where the murders occur.

@kirapika: Same here, it’ll be a great scene if he does.
@JR: I see. So basically they died and it’s all visions or illusions of some sort. Interesting. But how does the story proceed if they’re all dead? I wonder…
@Anonymous: I can only hope so.
@DK_Eternity: Probably going to get the VN soon later for delicious spoilers.
@Taiyaki: Of course, then it explains that it couldn’t have been done by witches in the real world. Although the characters admit it was a bad end kind of leaves me going ‘wtf’.

Let´s just say that Battler have a hard head. I do want to see what comes next. Will it be a restart like Higurashi? Or will we continue with this whole find human acts or what will happen?
I´m not confused for the murders and that they are all dead. Beatrice won, I just want to know what will happen next.
And why is the same seiyu voicing the other witch that did Furude Rika? That shook me up more. Need to watch that last ep of Higurashi no naku koro ni kei. THAT was a mindfuck if something was.

I can only hope for the best. Ganbatte, Battler!
