OP Sequence: Abingdon Boys School – 「JAP」
Summary:
The series starts off with Date Masamune (blue) charging forward on horseback with the rest of his troops as he takes out a small army in his path, slashing his six katanas like claws. Meanwhile, Sanada Yukimura (in the red), breaks into a small fortification and completely wipes out the opposition with his flaming spears. From there, the other main cahracters are introduced. Yukimura is then show plotting the attack against Lord Kenshin with his master Takeda Shingen. Yukimura is at first disapproving of the strategy, but reverts to utter admiration of his master when the full plan, dubbed the “Woodpecker strategy” is unveiled. Kenshin then prepares for the attack, with the help of his trusty ninja Kasuga. As Yukimura charges on to play his part in the attack on Kenshin, he encounters Masamune. The two instantly become rivals a fight ensues. As both are fighting, Kenshin and Shingen, about to go to war, witness a large explosion of light attributed to Masamune and Yukimura. The episode ends with a conversation between Yukimura and Shingen, with Shingen beating the pulp out of Yukimura rather comically. Yukimura doesn’t mind, as he knows he’s found himself a rival .
ED Sequence: Dustz – 「Break and Peace」
Thoughts:
I think from the start this was a pretty interesting anime. I found it rather quirky and amusing that the first couple of lines were Engrish. I bet we’ll be seeing a lot more of that. I really like Yukimura. If I ever get the game, I’ll probably be playing as him constantly. Ah yeah, and when I saw Mori Motonari’s little intro when they were introducting all the cahracters of the different regions, I couldn’t help but think TIRA FROM SOUL CALIBUR. The scene where Yukimura and Shingen were shouting each others names over and over again after their little meeting reminded me so much of Kannagi’s famous “AKIBAAA!!!! MIKURIYAAAA!!!” moment. Oh, and I can so tell that the Takeda clan ninja Sarutobi Sasuke was too much of a ninja reference. This anime is pretty amusing, I did like the action scenes and the characters are pretty uniquely designed. Fun stuff.
