K-ON! 3

I’ve heard of pen spinning, but pen-to-mouth balancing?

Summary:

It’s midterms time, and poor Yui forgot to study and boms her test…no problem, right? WRONG! If she still screws up for the makeover exam, Yui wouldn’t be allowed to participate in any more clubs, meaning that it’s all over for the K-ON team.

Yui tries her best to study, but ends up playing with her guitar (even with the help of a concentration book, which she completely fails at reading it). Thus, her friends come to the rescue. Ritsu gets bored easily and plays around as usual, where Yui’s sister (Ui…what a non-generic name) finally gets her time in the spotlight, amazing the K-ON crew on how opposite she is compared to Yui (responsible, serious, anything that Yui isn’t).

With Mio-sensei’s super cramming session teaching skills, as well as motivation in the form of sweets from Nodoka and Mugi-chan, Yui aces her makeup exam. Yatta! Except she’s forgotten all her guitar practice and only remembers x’s and y’s…d’oh.

Thoughts:

Wow, I think this is the first anime I’ve seen where grades and school actually mattered. I have around the same attention span and studying skills as Yui sometimes… Anyways, still an ok episode, although kinda feels like it’s dragging on a bit. Still, more Ui screentime and polar opposite sisters ftw.

They better get to playing some music soon, I mean, it’s cute and all to watch Yui and everyone help them study, but they better make with the music soon.

Yeah, it is kinda rare. It’s not the first time I’ve seen it (I don’t think), but for how many shows rely on a school setting, not many of them actually seem to care about the actual schooling.

I agree, more Ui is always a good thing. Imoutos ftw~

It’s actually quite possible, although I’ve not done so since leaving school. Wonder if I was the only one who got the “Yui never getting cold” joke….
